Key Responsibilities
1. Counting Repetitions: Accurately count and record the number of valid repetitions completed by the team you're overseeing.
2. Enforcing Standards: Ensure each exercise is performed to the correct standard. Call out "No rep" if a movement doesn't meet the required depth, height, or form.
3. Guiding Athletes: Remind participants about upcoming exercises, number of reps, proper technique, time remaining, how many athletes are left to participate in a given workout.
4. Rule Enforcement: Monitor adherence to event rules, such as proper changeovers and staying within designated areas.
5. Recording Penalties: Note any rule infractions and apply the corresponding 30-point penalty.
6. Timekeeping: Keep track of the "X" minute workout cap and signal to the athlete the start and end of each workout.
7. Scorekeeping: Complete the scoring card accurately, including total reps and any penalties.
8. Impartiality: Remember, you'll be overseeing a team from a different school to ensure fairness.
Tips for Effective Marshalling
- Familiarise yourself thoroughly with the workout standards and event rules.
- Communicate clearly and loudly to be heard over the excitement, tiredness, cheering and other communication from teammates. .
- Stay focused and attentive throughout each workout.
- Be firm but encouraging in your interactions with the athletes.
- If in doubt about a rule or standard, consult with the event manager promptly.
