Hey, super kids! Get ready for an awesome adventure with Hyrox, a fun fitness race that’s perfect for young athletes like you!
Hyrox started in 2017 in Hamburg, Germany, created by Christian Toetzke and Olympic hockey champ Moritz Fürste. They wanted to make a race that mixes running and cool exercises for everyone, even kids! Now, it’s grown all over the world with tons of gyms and events.
For kids under 11, Hyrox can be super fun with safe, easy versions of the exercises. Let’s explore how you can get strong, fast, and happy with Hyrox!
Fun Fact: Hyrox’s name comes from “hybrid” and “rockstar,” made up by its creators during a fun night out!
Where Can You Train for Hyrox Junior?
Ready to start? Ask a grown-up to find a Hyrox gym near you! Look for “Hyrox Training Clubs” or “Performance Centers” with kid-friendly classes—some start at age 8! Check Hyrox.com for gym locations or ask at your local fitness center. Many offer free tryouts, and Primary Fitness Games has fun events too!
Type of Exercises Used for Hyrox Junior
Hyrox Junior uses safe, scaled-down versions of big-kid exercises! You might try light sled pushes, short rowing on machines, jumping games, and carrying light bags. Coaches make sure everything is easy and fun for your age, like wall balls with soft balls!
How Many Hours Do Pro Athletes Train?
Pro Hyrox athletes train hard, about 10-15 hours a week! That’s like playing outside for 2-3 hours every day, mixing runs, exercises, and rest to stay super strong!
Structure of Hyrox Events
Hyrox events are like a big playground race! You run 1 kilometer, then do a fun exercise station, and repeat it 8 times. For kids, it’s shorter and easier, with coaches watching to keep it safe and exciting!
Modalities of Hyrox
Hyrox has different ways to play!
- There’s “Open” for everyone with lighter weights,
- “Pro” for tougher challenges,
- “Doubles” where you team up with a friend, and
- “Relay” with a group of four. Kids get special junior versions!
Where Are the Competitions Held?
Hyrox races happen all over the world in big indoor halls, like in London, New York, and Hamburg! Sometimes they’re outside, like in Miami, so you can cheer with friends and family!
